Providing highly competitive elite level action between now and the Paralympic Games which will next be held in Beijing 2008, this invitational event has brought together the World's top athletes and has become the biggest annual disability multi-sport competition.
Over 320 athletes from 41 countries were invited to take part in the 2007 Visa Paralympic World Cup in the four sports: Athletics, Swimming, Track Cycling and Wheelchair Basketball.
The Paralympic World Cup sports included are recognised world wide, easy to understand, make excellent viewing for both TV and Stadia audience and have a strong global participation.
The three individual sports (athletics, track cycling and swimming) and one team sport (wheelchair basketball) all have a dedicated international following ensuring an excellent showcase for disability sport.
Within each sport the event programmes are selected through close liaison between the national and international governing bodies of each sport, British Paralympic Association (BPA), International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and BBC Sport. Top GB athletes are invited to compete against a selected elite international field, highlighting the excellence and depth of these four Paralympic Sports from Great Britain and the rest of the World.
